The phenomenon of "accelerating" time: there are no longer 24 hours in our days

People of the older generation often notice that time seems to be moving faster. Managing the flow of work tasks becomes increasingly difficult, and weeks fly by almost unnoticed. Meanwhile, scientists have a theory that earthly days are indeed shortening as the years go by.

The alarm was first raised by the monks of Mount Athos. In Tibetan monasteries, every minute of time is strictly scheduled. For centuries, their routine has not changed – every evening at the same time, the monks begin reciting an ancient prayer and finish it at dawn.

However, in recent years they have noticed something strange. Morning arrives faster than they can complete their prayer. Another piece of evidence for the theory is the monastery candles. The recipe for making them has not changed for centuries. But now they last longer than before.

Scientists explain this phenomenon by the speed of the Earth's rotation. They say that due to the expansion of the Sun, our planet is beginning to rotate faster. Additionally, various earthly cataclysms – earthquakes, tides, volcanic eruptions, and other events – also influence the passage of time.
