Media question about ancient symbols

Samsung has unveiled three foldable smartphones: Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8. For the first time in the series, two book-format models have appeared simultaneously. They are aimed at different categories of buyers, and after getting to know all three devices, the differences between them are indeed noticeable.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 is suitable for those who need a compact and relatively lightweight foldable smartphone with a large internal screen. Fold 8 Ultra is primarily designed for work and multitasking, while Flip 8 focuses on the familiar flip format, design, and more affordable price.

Sales of the Galaxy Z 8 series will begin on August 7. Before purchasing, it's worth checking for current promotions on Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8: they could reduce the final cost.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8: Compact Foldable Smartphone

Samsung Galaxy Fold 8

Galaxy Z Fold 8 combines the main capabilities of the Fold series with a noticeably more compact body. When folded, it is roughly the size of a passport, and when opened, it transforms into a device with a wide tablet-sized screen. In terms of proportions, this model occupies an intermediate position between the regular Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip.

This format is especially convenient for reading articles and eBooks. The phone can easily be turned vertically so that more text fits on the screen, reducing the need to scroll the page frequently. These proportions are also suitable for vertical games like Pokémon Go.

For videos, the Fold 8 performs well too: the internal display has fewer black bars at the top and bottom compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. On the external screen, videos, based on my experience, fit almost perfectly.

This is one of the easiest foldable smartphones to master in the book format. It is lighter and more compact than the Ultra, making it more convenient to use. With a starting price of $1,900, the Fold 8 features the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a foldable display without a noticeable crease, and two main cameras.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra: Large Screen for Work

For most everyday tasks, I preferred the regular Fold 8, but I found myself reaching for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra more often while working. This aligns with Samsung’s positioning: the Ultra is designed for those who need the largest and most functional foldable smartphone from the company.

The eight-inch internal display provides more space for multiple applications, documents, and other work materials. There is no support for the S Pen, but Ultra features a 5,000 mAh battery and a thinner body: its thickness when unfolded is 4.1 mm.

The cameras here are also better than those on the other models in the series. The 200 MP main module retains more detail, while the telephoto camera with a threefold zoom allows you to zoom in on subjects without losing quality. It is complemented by a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera.

On the Ultra, you can read, watch videos, work with applications, and prepare documents — just like on the regular Fold 8, only on a larger screen. Photos and videos on the eight-inch display also look better, and when needed, the device folds down to the size of a regular phone.

You’ll have to pay at least $2,100 for these capabilities. The Ultra is worth choosing for those who truly need a large screen for work, a more powerful battery, and the best camera in the lineup.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8: Compact Flip Phone

Galaxy Z Flip 8 stands out with its compact body, flip phone design, and the lowest price among the three new products. It starts at $1,200 but retains a powerful chipset, new AI features, and seven years of software updates. This is an option for those who do not need the tablet format of the Fold but want a foldable smartphone in the familiar flip format.
