Why does zodiac sign compatibility work at all?

I am an Aries, and for some reason, I always find it easy to communicate with Leos and Aquarians. Moreover, it’s not just friendship, but also relationships. And the more I meet people of different signs, the more I notice that many of them do indeed resemble the description of their sign. Even if they don’t believe in horoscopes themselves.

For example, when it comes to girls, I really like Aquarians — they are usually cheerful, a bit infantile, but kind and easy to talk to. Leos seem interesting to me because they are wise in their own way, although just as stubborn as Aries. Sagittarians are calm, reasonable, and that resonates with me as well. But, for example, Scorpios often seem too tough for me, while Pisces are closed off and silent. Although, of course, every person is unique, and there are many more examples to give.

So I started to think: why do zodiac signs describe people's characters so well?

I came up with a theory. Perhaps it’s not about the stars themselves, but about how people perceive their sign from childhood. A person constantly hears what they are: "you are an Aries — so you are stubborn," "you are a Libra — so you are calm," and so on. Even if they don’t read horoscopes, society still regards different signs in a certain way. And over time, a person simply starts to match this image.

So it turns into something like self-suggestion or the influence of the environment.

For example, it seems to me that if a person born under Cancer is told from childhood that they are a Libra, and they believe it their entire life, then over time their character might become similar to that of a Libra.

I'm curious to hear what you think about this. Is there something real in this, or are we just fitting people into the descriptions of signs?
