Why do rich people invest so little in research?
Why do wealthy individuals invest so little in research? Discover the reasons behind the inadequate funding of scientific projects, the influence of personal interests and philanthropy on the choice of investment directions, and their role in the development of science.
It's always been interesting to know the opinion of others on this topic. Why do the richest people in the world so rarely invest serious money in research? Even in the most basic ones — for example, in developments that could help people live longer, and maybe someday even defeat aging.
Many of them have huge fortunes — billions that are basically just lying there. And sometimes the question arises: why is so little of this money going to something really important and useful for humanity?
After all, if even each of them invested just 1% of their savings in science and research, it might already yield incredible results. And if several such people united — who knows what discoveries could be made.
That's why I'm interested in how you see this. Perhaps we just don't know about many closed projects and research? Or is it that people, even having vast amounts of money, are still afraid to take risks with it and prefer to preserve their wealth rather than invest it in something uncertain?
What do you think?
