This also affects our children, who have learned to use various programs for their purposes. This raises a perfectly legitimate question – should we ban neural networks in schools?
The problem is that students use such services for assignments that they should be completing on their own. With the help of "neural networks," a huge number of essays are written, math problems are solved, and reports are prepared today. In the best-case scenario, a student uses the neural network to gather information – and then prepares the final material based on it. But most students prefer to simply copy the generated texts and submit this work for evaluation, without even reading it.
Not every teacher is capable of distinguishing a real student’s work from a result generated by a program. In universities, teachers have long understood this "trick" – today they have special services to verify tests and theses for authenticity. Regular schools do not have such services. As a result, teachers have to rely solely on their experience and intuition.
But the main problem is not even this. It is that, by using the neural network, the child does not engage mentally at all. They do not learn the rules to find a solution to the problem themselves. They do not read the work to prepare for an essay later. Essentially, there is a huge gap in their knowledge – and there is nothing to be happy about here.
It is not surprising that today’s youth do not even know who Pushkin and Lermontov are. They cannot name the capitals of the countries in the world and cannot even say how many continents exist on our planet. Many even struggle with basic arithmetic and cannot pay in a store for their purchases!
Therefore, in my opinion – the use of neural networks in schools by students should be banned. Educational institutions should be equipped with special services that can distinguish work done by a student from that generated by a program. And children should be punished with poor grades for using artificial intelligence. So that in the future they wouldn’t even think about resorting to such technologies.
At the same time, the neural network in schools represents a useful addition for teachers. Considering how much paperwork, planning, and reporting they constantly have to do, the use of special programs would save these people a lot of hours. And those hours could be dedicated to something truly important – for example, they could conduct extra classes with children, help those who are falling behind, etc.
